Area Manager – Dice, Grind & CMP

About the role:
As Area Manager at Silex, you’ll be at the forefront of process development and optimization in a fast-paced, cleanroom-based production environment. You'll lead a team of engineers and technicians, drive operational excellence, and help shape the future of MEMS manufacturing.
Your mission is to secure high-quality output, precision delivery, and operational efficiency, while driving the development of the area towards higher levels of automation, yield, and productivity.
Main responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a cross-functional team of Process Engineers, Service Technicians, and an Assistant Engineer.
- Be responsible for staffing, resource planning, and ensuring alignment with department goals.
- Drive process development, qualification of new equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implement and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) procedures and process documentation (runcards).
- Oversee defect detection, scrap reduction, and yield improvement programs.
- Ensure a safe, efficient, and engaging work environment in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate closely with shift leaders, planning, maintenance, and other departments to secure operational flow and delivery performance.
Team Manufacturing
You’ll be part of the Manufacturing Management Team, reporting to the VP Manufactoringr, and you’ll work in close collaboration with Process Engineering, Maintenance, Planning, and Quality. Our team plays a critical role in delivering reliable, cutting-edge components to some of the world’s most innovative companies.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A Master’s degree in Engineering in a relevant technical field (e.g., Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Electronics).
- Experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment — MEMS, CMOS, or CMP experience is a strong advantage.
- Previous leadership experience with team and budget responsibility.
- Strong understanding of process development, SPC, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluency in English is required; Swedish is a plus.
