Process Engineer
Silex Microsystems is the world’s leading pure-play MEMS foundry, customizing solutions for prominent global clients in industries such as pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics, and automotive. We’re now growing more than ever, and are expanding our Manufacturing organization with new Process Engineer positions in several areas.
The Areas
All areas consists of a team of both engineers and service technicians where collaboration is critical to ensure good process stability, tool up-time and continuous improvement. All Process Engineers report to the Area Manager in their area.
Wet
- A fast-paced, varied and unique area where the processes differ a lot: wet-etching, deposition and vapor techniques are used to both remove and build material on our chips. The team consists of four Service Technicians and nine Process Engineers.
DRIE (Deep Reactive Ion Etching)
- The focus in this area is removing silicon in a controlled way to create the structures of the MEMS-device. The DRIE systems utilizes RF-power to produce a plasma to create ions that are used to remove Silicon. The team consists of six Service Technicians and six Process Engineers.
Lithography
- Our Lithography team is central to transferring intricate designs onto substrates using advanced UV exposure equipment—an essential step in the fabrication of all our products. This is a fast-paced area where close cooperation between engineers and operators is essential. The team consists of ten Process Engineers and six Service Technicians.
Bond
- In MEMS manufacturing, the bond area can be formed using various bonding technologies such as anodic bonding, fusion bonding, eutectic bonding, adhesive bonding, and thermocompression bonding. Each one is chosen for its specific mechanical, thermal, or hermetic properties. The team consists of three Process Engineers and two Service Technicians.
The role
Your overall responsibility is to ensure manufacturing goals are met, together with operators and service technicians. Your days will be a mix of meetings with Product Managers and developing new processes that meet customers' specifications.
You will also participate in creating work routines for operators and solving problems that occur in the area, driving improvement projects to enhance our workflow and processes in the area.
In this role, you will:
- Develop, maintain and improve processes.
- Handle stopped production batches and development material together with process integration engineers (PIs).
- Be a part of creating/improving the infrastructure for operator training and make sure current routine is available and up to date.
- Participate in process qualification of new equipment/materials and release to them production.
- Participate in the startup of new products, review specifications and process flows.
- Grow into taking responsibility for area equipment, improving the tool uptime, maintain and develop new standardized process modules.
- Drive improvement projects independently.
We are looking for someone who has
- A master's degree in engineering, specializing in Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
- Previous experience with one or several of the four technologies described above from either industry or studies.
- Previous experience in an engineering role, preferably in production/development environments.
- The ability to see opportunities for improvement and manage projects to follow through with those improvements in a proactive way.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
